The Comparative Literature Department hosted a talk by Musa Al-Halool titled “Gustatory Imagery in the Holy Quran” on Monday, May 4.

During the event, Al-Halool examined the imagery of taste in the Quran from a stylistic perspective, focusing on its relationship with concepts such as punishment, mercy, and death.

The talk highlighted the significance of sensory imagery in the Quran in terms of metaphor, meaning, and rhetoric, while exploring both the literal and metaphorical uses of gustatory imagery through selected verses. Al-Halool also discussed the impact of these images on readers and their role within the rhetorical structure of the Quran.
