Department of Comparative Literature hosted the “When Can a Robot Win the Nobel Prize in Literature?” talk with Bager Akbay.

On May 14, 2026, the Department of Comparative Literature hosted artist, designer, and educator Bager Akbay. The talk, titled “When Can a Robot Win the Nobel Prize in Literature?” was moderated by Dr. Emine Hoşoğlu Doğan.

Framed within contemporary debates on artificial intelligence, the event addressed the impact of AI on literary and artistic production processes, the evolving role of writers and artists, human–machine interaction in creative practices, and the implications of these transformations for the future of literature and art. The discussion also engaged with the aesthetic, ethical, and theoretical dimensions of AI-based creative production.

Bager Akbay shared insights through his robot poet Deniz Yılmaz project, offering a concrete example of AI-driven artistic production.
